Downstairs you’ll find a queen bedroom and the main bathroom. Head up to the bright, airy mezzanine and you’ll discover plenty of sleeping space with a queen bed, a double, and a single with trundler — ideal for families or groups. Outside, two handy cubicles add extra convenience: one with a hot/cold shower and the other with a second toilet.
The living areas are sunny and welcoming, with comfy couches, a dining space, and easy flow out to the deck and lawn. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to whip up summer favourites, or fire up the BBQ and enjoy relaxed meals outdoors — perfect for afternoon drinks and snacks after a day at the beach.
While the property isn’t fully fenced, pets are welcome, so the whole family can join the fun. There’s no WiFi, giving you the chance to fully switch off — but with everything Matarangi has to offer, you won’t miss it.

Matarangi has one of the safest beaches on the peninsula. Enjoy a day relaxing on the beach, you can swim, body surf, and even throw a fishing line out. You can take a walk or a ride on the walkways and tracks around the village, head to Rings Beach, ride or walk the 8km track or walk along the Matarangi Beach and Spit track. Matarangi has a beautiful 18-hole golf course with club rooms and a restaurant. Every Saturday there is a village market so take a wander through and buy some local produce and chat with the locals. The market is located near the 4 Square Supermarket.
If you happen to be staying in Matarangi in April, then you should try “A Taste of Matarangi” a festival where you will be able to try local food and wine and enjoy some great local music.
Take a drive to Whangapoua Beach which is the gateway to the undisturbed beauty of New Chums Beach a stunning beach only accessible by boat, or by foot at low tide. This beach is rated one of the top beaches in the world!
Matarangi has several tennis courts available to the public and they are free to use, just bring your tennis gear.
The boat ramp is easily accessed so take the boat and cruise out to the beautiful Great Mercury Island to enjoy a swim in the clear waters, or head out for a fish or a dive. There are some great spots to find a crayfish for dinner.
Whitianga is about 30 minutes away and is home to “The Lost Springs”. You can unwind in the thermal pools nestled in a tropical setting offering a serene way to spend the afternoon. There are also restaurant and spa facilities available for your enjoyment.
