Your holiday home:
With lovely views across Brophy’s Beach (Ohuka) and beyond, this well-loved three-storey family bach offers classic Kiwi charm, generous space, and a relaxed, lived-in feel. While it’s an older home, it’s comfortable, practical, and perfectly set up for larger family groups who value location, space, and time together over modern polish.
There’s room for everyone to spread out, including a near self-contained area ideal for grandparents or teens wanting their own space. Long summer evenings are best spent gathered on the deck with the BBQ going as the sun sets, or tucked into the sunny window seat with a good book and sea views in the background.
The fully equipped kitchen makes catering for a crowd easy, and the large 12-person dining table is made for shared meals, board games, and plenty of laughter. Two separate lounge areas — each with their own entertainment system — mean kids and adults can relax their own way. With a wood-burning fireplace and heat pumps on every level, the home stays cosy in winter and comfortable in summer.
Sleeping up to 11 guests across five bedrooms and three bathrooms, there’s more than enough room for extended family or even two families holidaying together. It’s spacious, functional, and designed for easy beach living.
Set at the quieter northern end of Brophies Beach, you’re just a three-minute walk to the sand while still enjoying a peaceful position away from the main holiday crowds. When you’re ready for supplies, dining out, or a little adventure, Whitianga township is only seven minutes away by car. Here you’ll find cafés, shops and restaurants, plus attractions such as The Lost Spring and the Cooks Beach Ferry for exploring further afield.
If you want a genuine, spacious, well-cared-for beach house where families have gathered for years, this classic bach is ready to welcome you.
Your holiday world:
Whitianga is a popular holiday destination located on the Coromandel Peninsula. It is the gateway to some amazing beaches and scenery. Wandering the shops is a good start and if you get a bit peckish head to one of many delightful eateries whether it’s a pie and donut, or a sit-down lunch with a cold beverage. There are plenty of options. There is plenty to do for the kids as well with mini golf, movies, an awesome skatepark and kids’ playground, and of course, there is the Mercury Bay Museum. For adults, a trip to the Lost Springs Thermal Spa and Hot Pools is a great way to spend a couple of hours relaxing in tropical surroundings. If you make your way to the wharf you can catch the passenger ferry to Ferry Landing & take a walk over to Front Beach. Tour boats also leave from the wharf which can show you around the area and stop close to Cathedral Cove within the Marine Reserve, watch the fish, go for a snorkel, or take a cave tour. If fishing is your idea of a good time, there are plenty of Charters that can take you out. Or you could take a drive out to Hahei. From here you can take the 40-minute walk to world-renowned Cathedral Cove, or you can head to the beach where there is a water taxi that can take you. Hot Water Beach is not to be missed. At low tide dig a hole and you will have your own hot pool! Spades can be hired from the local store.
