Your holiday world:
Whitianga is a popular holiday destination located on the Coromandel Peninsula. It is the gateway to some amazing beaches and scenery. Wandering the shops is a good start, and if you get a bit peckish, head to one of many delightful eateries, whether it’s a pie and donut, or a sit-down lunch with a cold beverage. There are plenty of options. There is plenty to do for the kids as well, with a bike park, movies, an awesome skate park, kids’ playground, and of course, the Mercury Bay Museum. For adults, a trip to the Lost Springs Thermal Spa and Hot Pools is a great way to spend a couple of hours relaxing in tropical surroundings. If you make your way to the wharf, you can catch the passenger ferry to Ferry Landing & take a walk over to Front Beach. Tour boats also leave from the wharf, which can show you around the area and stop close to Cathedral Cove within the Marine Reserve, watch the fish, go for a snorkel, or take a cave tour. If fishing is your idea of a good time, there are plenty of Charters that can take you out. Or you could take a drive out to Hahei. From here, you can take the 40-minute walk to world-renowned Cathedral Cove, or you can head to the beach, where there is a water taxi that can take you. Hot Water Beach is not to be missed. At low tide, dig a hole, and you will have your own hot pool! Spades can be hired from the local store.
